Sandy Springs doesn’t send out missionaries independently, but is deeply invested (with prayer, funding, and encouragement) in the missionary works of the General Assembly of the OPC and the Presbytery of the Southeast.
Our foreign missionaries serve in Quebec, Haiti, Uruguay, Uganda, and elsewhere. Usually they are preachers, but sometimes the OPC supports ministries of mercy (medical, educational, agricultural) that help to amplify the ministry of the Word.
Our church planters are “home missionaries” who organize new congregations in North America by gathering groups of believers and evangelizing the lost. Some OPC presbyteries like ours also have a Regional Home Missionary who helps to coordinate these efforts.
Missionary associates serve 1-2 year terms helping missionaries in various capacities.
Short-term missions opportunities are available to volunteers each year. These include English Bible camps, Vacation Bible Schools, and construction work, both domestically and overseas.
In addition to short-term missions, OPC diaconal ministries include disaster response, providing aid and relief to member churches and families and their communities in the wake of disasters (such as the flooding in eastern Kentucky).
